Make Your Manuscript Matter: Writing, Peer Review, and Publication Integrity

13 February 2027 · Saturday · 14:00–15:30 UTC · Free online session

Intention. Show how a clear manuscript, constructive review, and transparent ethical decisions strengthen student scholarship.

What you will take away

  • Structure a manuscript around the question, methods, result, and limitation.
  • Use peer review to improve a paper without losing the central finding.
  • Recognize authorship, disclosure, citation, and AI-use issues before submission.

Why this matters for medical students

A good study can be lost in unclear writing or compromised by avoidable integrity mistakes. Students need a practical route through submission and revision.

Applied activity: Revise a sample abstract or paragraph and identify a publication-integrity decision.

People behind the session

Meet the contributor. Ghee Khang Ong brings experience as an author, peer reviewer, and research-methodology educator to a practical conversation about writing and publication integrity.

Ghee Khang Ong

Medical student, IMU University, Malaysia · IJMS Student Editor

Ghee Khang has published clinical and biomedical research, completed external peer reviews, and taught research methodology through student research leadership. That author-and-reviewer experience gives him a practical way into responsible writing, revision, and publication decisions. He has proposed a focused discussion of the responsible use of AI in writing and publication, grounded in journal policies and examples rather than a claim of AI-specific research expertise.

Why his perspective helps: students can see how to improve a manuscript without losing transparency about authorship, tools, and evidence.

How to join

We plan to meet on Zoom and share the session through the IJMS YouTube channel. The access link, detailed agenda, and any registration instructions will be posted once confirmed. No fee or CME credit is advertised.
