María Antonia Restrepo Duque is a fifth-year medical student at the Universidad del Quindío in Colombia, South America. She belongs to the Study Group in Parasitology and Molecular Mycology, is a member of The Medical Research Student Association of the University of Quindío (ASEIMUQ), Colombian Association of Infectology (ACIN), and Interest group in Molecular Biology and Genetics of the National University of Colombia. She was the winner of the regional competition in basic medical sciences, held at Vision of the Americas University Institution for two consecutive years. She also won the Award for the most-liked research presentation awarded by the public in IJMS conference of medical student research.
