Abstract Submissions Now Open: Present Your Research at the 5th IJMS World Conference of Medical Student Research (WCMSR 2026)

The International Journal of Medical Students (IJMS) announces that abstract submissions are now officially open for the 5th World Conference of Medical Student Research (WCMSR), to be held online on July 11–12, 2026.

This international conference continues to serve as a platform for medical students and early-career physicians worldwide to present original research, engage with a global academic community, and contribute to the advancement of medical science in an inclusive and collaborative environment.

Submission Timeline

  • Opening of submissions: April 1, 2026
  • Submission deadline: May 10, 2026
  • Peer review period: May 11 – June 5, 2026
  • Notification of results: June 10, 2026
  • Final materials deadline: June 30, 2026

Eligibility and Scope
The WCMSR accepts original research across a broad range of disciplines, including clinical medicine, surgery, public health, medical education, and basic sciences. Eligible study designs include observational and interventional studies, case reports, and meta-analyses. Narrative reviews, systematic reviews, and study protocols are not accepted.

At least one author must be a current medical student or a physician within three years of graduation. All authors must meet ICMJE authorship criteria and have an ORCID linked to their submission.

Abstract Requirements
Abstracts must:

  • Be submitted through the IJMS website under “Abstracts of the WCMSR”
  • Follow the official template and structured format
  • Not exceed 500 words
  • Include 3–5 MeSH-based keywords
  • Contain a maximum of one table or figure
  • Exclude references
  • Represent original, unpublished work

Authors are responsible for ensuring accuracy, clarity, and compliance with ethical and plagiarism standards.

Submission Process and Fees
All submissions must be completed via the IJMS online system. A submission fee is required and varies according to World Bank country income classification (ranging from $10 to $40 USD). Proof of payment must be uploaded during submission.

Selection and Presentation
Abstracts will undergo a structured screening and peer-review process. Selected abstracts will be presented as oral or poster presentations during the conference and published in the IJMS conference supplement with a DOI. Top presentations will be eligible for awards and fast-track consideration for full manuscript publication.
