The 2022 IJMS World Conference of Medical Student Research marked the beginning of a new international platform created by medical students, for medical students. As the inaugural edition of the WCMSR, it established the conference’s central mission: to provide emerging researchers with a rigorous, accessible, and genuinely global venue in which to present their scientific work, exchange ideas, and develop as scholars.
The first conference brought together medical students and early-career scientists from across the world to share original research and case reports. More than 100 submissions were received, and the 40 highest-scoring abstracts from over 30 countries were selected for presentation. This first edition laid the foundation for the annual WCMSR program and for the international community that has continued to grow around it.
