Samia A. Ali is a medical student at Charles R. Drew University College of Medicine and the Co-Director & Founder of Physicians for Human Rights (PHR) at CDU. She holds a B.S. in Physiology with a minor in Bioethics and Humanities from the University of Washington. As an NIH Research Scholar at Tufts Medical Center's Molecular Cardiology Research Institute, she investigated mybpc3-mutation Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy using single-cell RNA sequencing across species. Her research, supported by the National Institutes of Health/National Institute of General Medical Sciences Grant 5R25GM066567, focuses on transcriptomic profiling to identify conserved and distinct pathological pathways in cardiac disease. Passionate about global health, human rights, and cardiology, she leads initiatives in health equity research, asylum clinic efforts, and migrant health advocacy. She aspires to integrate cardiology and critical care in global health settings to improve emergency medical access in underserved communities.
