Adeniyi Adesola

Adeniyi Adesola is a highly motivated undergraduate pursuing a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree at the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan (COMUI), Nigeria, and is driven by a passion for research and a commitment to public health. Fueled by the lack of data in Africa and a desire to make a positive impact, his research interests focus on sickle cell disease, medical education, and oncology.

Nigeria's staggering burden of sickle cell disease, with one in three children born with the condition globally coming from the country (World Health Organization), has ignited his determination to raise awareness and conduct relevant research. Beyond his research pursuits, he is actively interested in addressing the challenges in medical education.

He serves as the General Secretary of the College Research and Innovation Hub, Ibadan (CRIH) at COMUI and holds a prominent leadership role within the University of Ibadan Medical Students' Association (UIMSA).

Furthermore, Adesola co-founded The Genowise Project, a student-led initiative tackling sickle cell disease through outreach programs, media campaigns, and research. This project exemplifies his dedication to raising awareness and contributing to existing knowledge.
