Fatima Elbasri

Fatima Elbasri Mohammed is a 6th year medical student at Khartoum University, Sudan. She has a deep interest in clinical & global health research, climate change, SDGs and meaningful youth mobility and participation in the decision-making process. She has eight published papers and 50 citations. Fatima was awarded the Top Cited Article, on her article (Neurological Disorders in HIV: Hope Despite Challenges) which was published in Immunity, inflammation and Disease Journal, one of Wiley and Sons publications. Moreover, Fatima reviewed manuscripts for BMC Tropical Medicine, Wiley Health Science Reports Journals. Fatima, was also a presenter of 3 abstracts in TUFH conference 2022 and author in 3 accepted abstracts in AMEE conference 2022.

Through her journey, Fatima developed strong skills like leadership, project management, strategic planning, advocacy & research and scientific writing. She aspires to create a community with no discrimination, full of equity and prosperity in terms of health and meaningful youth participation. She held several leadership positions: External Affairs Regional Assistant for Africa in the International Federation for Medical Students Association (IFMSA) 2021-2022, Activities assistant in Students Network Organization 2020-2021, National Public Health Officer in Medical Students International Network Sudan, Neglected Tropical Diseases Project Coordinator in Medical Students International Network-Sudan, local public health officer in Khartoum Medical Students Association 2019-2020 and Program coordinator in Sudanese Childhood Diabetes Association-youth office. She represented 1.3 million medical students as part of IFMSA to high-level meetings including the 74th and 75th World Health Assembly and UN-High Level Political Forum 2021.
