Muhammad Romail Manan is a final year medical student at Services Institute of Medical Sciences (SIMS) Pakistan and is currently working as a 'Student Editor' at the International Journal of Medical Students. Since joining the IJMS team he has facilitated in the handling of a wide variety of manuscripts with considerable interest in the statistical analysis of original studies. He is interested in issues pertaining to diversity in the academic sector and inclusion of people from various socioeconomic, ethnic, and geographic backgrounds in the publication process, as well as the representation of women and gender diverse individuals in various leadership and managerial roles. Under the support and supervision of the Editor-in-chief, Francisco Javier Bonilla-Escobar, Romail led a small working group on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) with the aim of developing the DEI policy of the journal. 

 
Alongside the Executive Committee, Romail is also currently leading the IJMS committee on medical education with the vision of empowering early career scientists to undertake their own research development and learning. He aspires to pursue internal medicine training with particular interest in infections and triggers of their autoimmune consequences. His research interests include: healthcare inequities in access and opportunity, infectious diseases, and medical education.
