Airo Emmanuel Nguka is a fifth-year medical student at Kenyatta University with a keen interest in medical research, particularly in the fields of cardiothoracic surgery, general surgery and adolescent sexual reproductive health and rights. He is actively developing his expertise in research methodology, data analysis, and the advocacy for evidence-based health policies as a member of the Young Researchers Academy at the Kenya Medical Association. Throughout his academic career, Airo has contributed significantly to the Kenyatta University Medical Research Club—first as Vice ICT Manager, where he managed research communication and digital content, and later as Partnerships and Liaison Officer, where he facilitated student-faculty collaboration and organized research workshops. His clinical and community exposure, including an apprenticeship at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital, has further enriched his understanding of healthcare challenges and opportunities in surgical practice. In addition to his research pursuits, Airo has demonstrated leadership and organizational skills as the Organizing Secretary of the Association of Kenyatta University Medicine Students, coordinating academic events and workshops. He is also a proud alumnus of the Harvard Aspire Leaders Program, where he honed his skills in leadership, teamwork, strategic thinking, and effective communication.
