Pranav Menon

alternatetext

My name is Pranav Menon, I am a 3rd year medical student at Dr. Somervell Memorial Medical College and Hospital in India. I have a strong desire to specialize in psychiatry and make a difference in the field of mental health as well as in medical research. I have had the opportunity to present a research poster at Weill Cornell Medical College’s research poster presentation, for which my team and I were second-place winners. This experience not only reinforced my interest in research but also helped in the development of critical thinking, collaboration, and the presentation of complex ideas. Beyond academics, I have also been very active in Model United Nations conferences, which have helped me in the development of communication, leadership and problem-solving skills in order to address global issues and policy making simulations. These experiences have nurtured my ability to think analytically and work collaboratively in diverse teams. Additionally, I have taken on mentorship roles in school to be able to guide my fellow students in their academic and professional journey. Such roles have also enabled me to enhance my leadership and empathetic skills as well as my communication with my peers towards creating a supportive learning environment. In the process, I have also developed qualities such as adaptability, teamwork and strong learning attitude. I would like to bring these skills to International Journal of Medical Students, at the same time, growing as a researcher, reviewer and future psychiatrist..
