Francisco J. Bonilla-Escobar

Francisco is the Editor in Chief of the IJMS.

He is a physician with a master's in epidemiology from the Universidad del Valle in Colombia, South America. He completed a Ph.D. in Clinical Research and Translational Science at the University of Pittsburgh in the United States. He is also certified in Medical Education by Harvard Medical School Postgraduate Medical Education (Training to Teach (T2T) in Medicine).

Dr. Bonilla-Escobar is a researcher and collaborator of several research groups in public health, ophthalmology and visual sciences, injuries, mental health, global surgery, and rehabilitation in Colombia and the US.

He has published more than 40 scientific original articles reaching more than 1000 citations, has an h-index of 19 in Google Scholar, and is a reviewer in several medical journals.

He was ranked as an Associate Researcher by the Colombian Ministry of Science, Innovation & Technology second highest category for researchers born in Colombia.

He has been invited to give conferences and master classes in Mexico and Colombia. He has participated as a Teaching Assistant at the Institute of Clinical Research Education at the University of Pittsburgh in the Observational Study Design course.

Several organizations, including Doctors without Borders and the American College of Surgeons, have recognized his research and community projects.
