Dr. Abdelrahman I. Abushouk, MD, Research Fellow, Cleveland Clinic [+10,000 citations in Google Scholar, h-index: 24 WoS]

Abdelrahman Abushouk, MD, FESC is an ECFMG-certified physician who serves as a current research fellow at the Cleveland Clinic's Heart, Vascular and Thoracic Institute. Before, he worked as a research fellow at the Perfuse Study Group, based at BIDMC and Harvard Medical School. He is also a fellow of the European Society of Cardiology (Scientific Excellence Track) and a collegiate of the "Sigma Xi ΣΞ} Research Honor Society". He is a member of the Global Burden of Disease study and serves on the editorial board of "Frontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine" and "BMC Cardiovascular Disorders" journals. His published research was cited in >30 National/International guidelines, drug updates, and state policies and was covered in major media outlets, including Reuters, Scientific American, among others.

Observational Study Designs.

Drs. Thomas Amuti, MD. and Francisco J. Barrera Flores, MD, MSc. will be sharing their experiences and knowledge on observational designs, including case reports, case series, cross-sectional, case-control, and cohort studies.

Thomas Amuti, MD, works at Consolata Hospital Nkubu in Kenia. He is a member of Anathomy tutors at Nairobi University and researcher at RESPEKT (sensitizing high school students on reproductive and sexual rights), Chair in the charity group Angels Arms of Hope, Chair of the undergraduate research group RE-med (Research in Medicine) at the University of Nairobi, Journal Editor at Journal of Gynecology in East and Central Africa and reviewer for several Journals.    

Francisco J. Barrera Flores, MD, MSc, was born and raised in Monterrey, Mexico. He studied medicine at Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon and received a Master of Science Degree in Epidemiology from the Harvard’s T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Currently, he is a post-doctoral researcher at the Harvard School of Public Health in the Department of Epidemiology and at the Massachusetts General Hospital in the Department of Psychiatry.
